Abstract

Smart cities have adopted real-time data analytics making them a critical component in the cities dynamic monitoring, sound decision-making, and effective management of urban services. Using information gathered by the IoT devices, sensors, social media, and infrastructure systems, cities are able to streamline how they transport, power, provide healthcare, govern, monitor their environment, and ensure their safety. This review examines some of the main concepts, technologies, and structures that support real-time analytics, brings out major applications, challenges associated with the volume of data, privacy, scalability, and interoperability. The trends in the future are focused on AI integration, edge computing, standardization, and sustainability. Eventually, real-time analytics facilitates the creation of efficient, responsive and sustainable cities.
